Hacienda White, Egypt • 2018
A summer residence where architectural lighting defines volumes, frames openings, and enhances the nighttime presence of the house with restraint and precision.
The challenge lay in highlighting the architectural geometry while maintaining the relaxed character of a summer home. With strong rectilinear forms and large glazed openings, the lighting needed to enhance depth and proportion without becoming visually dominant. Ensuring visual comfort for both indoor and outdoor areas, while avoiding glare and over-illumination, was essential.
The lighting strategy focused on clean, integrated solutions. Linear light was carefully recessed to trace architectural lines and frame openings, giving the house a clear identity after dark. Subtle ambient lighting was used in circulation and outdoor areas to support movement and comfort. Light levels were finely tuned to create balance, allowing the architecture to read clearly while maintaining the serene, understated quality expected of a summer residence.
