Katameya Dunes, Egypt • 2024
The Omar Kouidar residence is an open-plan beach house where fluid, understated lighting supports relaxed everyday living, seamlessly connecting playful and serene spaces into a calm, spa-like retreat by the sea.
The key challenge was preserving the home’s airy, open quality while avoiding visual clutter. Lighting needed to enhance the architecture without interrupting it and maintain a strong connection to the outdoors. Concealed light sources were essential to ensure calm, openness, and a seamless flow between interior and exterior spaces.
The lighting approach focused on invisibility and intention, with fully integrated, hidden sources that feel natural and weightless. Subtle illumination of window frames and transitions allows the house to glow from within, extending the interior outward. The result is a seamless indoor–outdoor connection and a calm, luminous home that supports daily life.
